Two arched openings greet visitors as they enter. One leads to the bedrooms, the other to the living room, kitchen and bathroom. A terrazzo floor underscores the functional nature of this part of the apartment.
The light-filled bathroom features Mosaic Factory tiles in pale shades, laid out in a chevron pattern. The vanity drawers’ non-woven finish give the overall result a truly vintage feel.
In the living room, the choice of a plain, light-colored paint reflects the natural light provided by two large windows, while highlighting the original moldings on the ceiling. NV Gallery sofa, Chiara Colombini wall light.
The client dreamed of a kitchen that opens onto the living room. The dream came true with clerestory partition, Chiara Colombini rafia suspension and brass fittings that bring warmth and color to this otherwise all-white setting.
The original herringbone floor has been sanded and varnished. It lends a distinctive charm to the living space, which features a mix of antique and contemporary furnishings. Interior designers Margaux Meza and Carla Lopez took advantage of the room’s various recesses to create a custom bookcase and bench.
The compact kitchen makes the most of its height! Large cupboards cover an entire wall, optimizing space. Looking down, contrasting flooring separates the kitchen from the living room.
The rounded bench is surmounted by Paper Mint wallpaper, which harmonizes with the shades of the seat and cushions. A wooden slatted partition visually separates the work area from the dining room.
A wooden skylight is visible from the arched entrance to the apartment’s sleeping area. In an echo of the entrance’s verdigris paintwork, a velvet-upholstered armchair sits in the hallway.
To overcome the layout’s juxtaposition of the bedrooms while optimizing natural light, Margaux and Carla created a room-within-a-room, forming a hallway leading to the master bedroom.
In the sleeping area, the interior designers used plentiful curved and rounded shapes, creating niches that provide ideal settings for a bespoke bookcase or bedside table. Pale hanging lamp by Georges, non-woven paper cupboard doors by CMO Paris, handles by La Quincaillerie.
Like a separate wooden house, the second bedroom is bathed in light. From the flooring to the decor, wood lends a warm atmosphere to a room used as much for work as for relaxation.
Margaux and Carla dressed the main wall of the bedroom in two different shades of green Farrow and Ball paint. The stronger of the two shades creates a headboard with rounded corners, to avoid encroaching on the floorspace. Chiara Colombini wall sconce, The Socialite Family sheets.
An entire wall of the master bedroom is devoted to a vast custom-made closet. The dressing-room doors are covered with CMO Paris non-woven paper. Hanging lamp by The Socialite Family.
