This green oasis in North London is home to a real architectural curiosity: an old studio revisited and enlarged in a contemporary spirit!
The entrance, though sober, is not lacking in character. The waxed concrete floor contrasts with the rough plaster of the walls, highlighting the warm tone of the Douglas fir plywood joinery. A beautiful harmony!
To bring coherence between the spaces, the bathroom adopts the same materials. This taste for simplicity extends to the minimalist furnishings, which guarantee a feeling of space.
To prevent the extension from encroaching on the building against which it backs and limiting the view enjoyed by neighbors, the level of the former studio was lowered.
A height of 3.5 meters was thus retained, for a feeling of volume multiplied. In the living room, the insertion of a window of equivalent size makes the garden a room in its own right!
Placed at the heart of the home, the kitchen is particularly spacious, with its flowing layout designed to accommodate long lines of storage and countertop space.
A 3-meter-high skylight provides particularly pleasant natural lighting, despite its distance from the outside world.
Once again, the play of levels visually delimits the rooms without closing off perspectives.
Thanks to the creation of numerous openings, every space looks outwards, offering a bucolic vision.
The almost monastic simplicity of the furnishings and the sobriety of the decor inevitably draw the visitor’s gaze outwards, as if inviting contemplation.
