64 m² in Paris: everyday light and fluidity

The challenge: creating a warm, functional apartment where light and furnishings are elegantly combined 64 m² Paris, France 100 000 € Retro-contemporary Two-bedroom Effe

Effe architecture is responsible for the complete renovation of this apartment in the 11th arrondissement of Paris. The kitchen has been moved into the living room, and the bathroom into the former kitchen: the space has been streamlined to suit the new owners' day-to-day needs.
The entrance, punctuated by vintage furniture and an antique mirror, sets the tone for the project by subtly blending styles and eras.
From the entrance, the view naturally flows into the living area. With no doors, the space gains fluidity, while an open niche acts as an interior window, offering a glimpse of the kitchen. The oak parquet floor continues, visually unifying the space.
In the living room, a cozy atmosphere is guaranteed: a low, plush sofa, a chair covered with a sheepskin, and a thick carpet invite you to relax. An integrated base unit, with a mirror on top, creates a subtle visual link between the living room and the kitchen, gently extending the space.

Facing the windows, an aged mirror reflects natural light. Large open shelves structure the space, while the brick-colored armchair contrasts with the pure white of the walls, bringing warmth and character to the room.

The kitchen stretches lengthwise between the entrance wall and two full-height units along the façade. The warmth of wood dominates, giving the space a welcoming atmosphere.

The natural wood base cabinets and stainless steel countertop complement the white wall units, creating a visually light and airy look and enhancing the brightness of the space.

A large antique wooden table, surrounded by vintage chairs, dialogues with the light Scandinavian-inspired furniture.

Behind what appears to be a simple closet door hides discreet access to an office or guest room, as needed. A subtle play of design tricks that optimizes space.

The bedroom is bathed in light, with restored antique oak parquet flooring and a custom-made headboard with built-in niches.

The agency takes advantage of the elbow-shaped chimney flue to integrate white-on-white shelving, favoring open elements and offering storage without weighing down the space.

A large dressing room takes the place of the former bathroom, optimizing storage space, while a restored antique radiator blends in behind a caned openwork panel, blending heritage charm with practicality.

In the entrance hall, two side-by-side doors lead to the laundry room/bathroom. In the bathroom, the tiles respond to the carpet pattern, creating a subtle graphic dialogue that punctuates the space from the very threshold of the apartment.

The laundry-bathroom exudes its old-fashioned charm, with terracotta floor tiles reminiscent of Provencal houses and the world of the washerwomen of yesteryear. A discreet curtain conceals the base cabinets, combining practicality with a touch of poetry.

The bathroom is lit and ventilated by natural light streaming in through a small high window. A vintage earthenware sink stands out against the lemon-yellow tiles, which bring warmth and brightness to the space.

In the shower, a built-in niche holds daily essentials, while the old-fashioned faucets add an elegant retro touch.
