Atelier 428, founded by interior designer Delphine David, was tasked with completely transforming this 1960s Parisian apartment.
In the entryway, a textured wall covering from Arte harmonizes with sculptural handles selected from Quincaillerie, creating an atmosphere that is both elegant and off-beat.
The apartment has been completely modernized and redesigned to offer greater comfort and a layout suited to contemporary lifestyles. The renovation included a complete upgrade of the utilities and a reconfiguration of the space, creating a large open-plan living area combining the kitchen, living room, and dining room.
Building on an existing arch, the project develops the concept of “undulation,” a curved design that organizes the volumes and shapes the identity of the space. Used for openings, pathways, and custom layouts, this flexible line streamlines the flow of traffic, softens perspectives, and highlights natural light. The dining table and accompanying chairs also feature rounded shapes.
With its mirrored facades, clean lines, and low-level lime-washed cabinets, the kitchen, designed in collaboration with MESURE, exudes a sober, natural, and resolutely contemporary aesthetic. The lime wash, with its smooth and deeply matte appearance, creates a subtle contrast with the reflective surfaces.
The quartz countertop, with its delicate veining, complements the coppery hue of the faucets, simultaneously softening and warming up the overall look.
In the living room, Atelier 428 explored geometric design punctuated with vintage references. A glazed partition with curvaceous patterns separates the living area from the former kitchen, which has been converted into an office.
Opening onto the living area, the office features plenty of storage space, with alternating open and closed units. The orange lacquered woodwork of the glazed partition echoes that of the shelving, contrasting subtly with the velvety texture of the lime-coated wall. The warm tones of the glazed partition also complement those of the ochre ceiling, creating an enveloping atmosphere.
Atelier 428 has opted for a darker palette in the WC, combining walls painted in masala red with garnet red lacquered tile cladding on the lower section, adding depth and warmth.
The bathroom evokes Moroccan interiors, with walls painted in ochre tones. The curved wall of the shower echoes the undulating lines found throughout the rest of the apartment, creating a harmonious and gentle continuity.
The veined stone sink rests on a dark wood cabinet, while organically shaped niches adorn the adjacent wall, subtly evoking cave dwellings and bringing rhythm and poetry to the space.
In contrast to the wet rooms, the bedroom is a veritable haven of light. An entire wall is dedicated to a custom-made walk-in closet. At the head of the bed, Atelier 428 emphasizes textiles to accentuate comfort and softness.
The green velvet headboard gently undulates along a textured wall, while the soft lighting subtly highlights its curves, creating an atmosphere conducive to daydreaming.
The curve naturally guides the eye towards the entrance, where the arch separating the night and day areas is reflected in a rounded mirror, extending the perspective.
Back in the entryway, custom storage solutions organize the space: floor-to-ceiling closets and open niches subtly echo those in the bathroom, combining functionality with aesthetic continuity.
