Paris: a Japanese-inspired 72 m² home

The challenge: optimizing and developing a narrow, awkwardly-shaped space 72 m² Paris, France 250 000 € Contemporary classic House ūti architectes & Hugo Haas Studio

In Paris's 10th arrondissement, a 72-square-meter house at the end of a courtyard reveals its full potential thanks to ūti architects and Hugo Haas Studio. To optimize a complex layout—two narrow L-shaped levels—a clear decision had to be made: to create a fluid path along a series of functional rooms.
The duality of the project is apparent from the entrance: beautiful natural light butts against narrow space that never exceeds 2 meters.

In the kitchen, custom-made cabinets line the boundary wall, freeing up as much space as possible on the front of the house.

The MIPA cement tile flooring, made in Italy, extends into the living room.

The owner’s vinyl collection provides an anchor for the décor.

Today, it is difficult to imagine the state in which ūti architects and Hugo Haas Studio found the apartment a year ago. Now, clean lines and a welcoming atmosphere characterize this custom-designed interior.

The staircase, a truly functional piece of interior design, stands out as the centerpiece of the layout: made of okoumé plywood, it sculpts the entrance, organizes traffic flow, and discreetly integrates the bathrooms.

Further up, the staircase extends into a partition wall that incorporates storage space and a desk, thus becoming the backbone that structures the apartment and warms it with its wood tones.

In the first bedroom, there is a custom-made desk that runs the entire length of the wall, while a wardrobe marks the entrance to the room.

On this floor, the traditional layout has been replaced by a more original design. As a transitional space, the bathroom features white tile from floor to wall.

Its understated, minimalist atmosphere brings a bold new dimension to the home.

The second bedroom uses the same style as the first, with its large, floor-to-ceiling wooden cabinet.
