Italian mosaic: a 65 m² apartment, structured by color

The challenge: reinterpreting elements of Milanese architectural tradition in a contemporary style 65 m² Milan, Italy 85 000 € Retro-contemporary Two-bedroom Atelierzero

Balancing local architectural heritage with contemporary design, a 65-square-meter Milanese apartment has been reinvented under the direction of architecture firm Atelierzero.
From the entrance, an intense blue, combined with geometric cement tiles, asserts the character and uniqueness of the project: movement is designed as a structuring backbone. Ultra-functional, this hallway incorporates maximum storage space.

The deep blue of the hallway extends into the first WC. Here, past and present come together: Ceppo di Gré tiles complement the IC Lights S1 pendant lamp by Flos.

The color palette of the living room creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The furniture contributes to this peaceful ambiance, reinforced by the choice of square-patterned parquet flooring, which reflects the desire to combine traditional materials with more contemporary elements.

The kitchen peeks through the porthole window, which maintains a visual connection between the rooms and allows light to flow through.

The kitchen, the heart of the project, can be opened up or closed off as needed thanks to a Mitica corrugated glass door by ADL Design.
In contrast to the hallway, the sleeping area features a neutral color palette and resin flooring.
In perfect harmony with De Rerum’s II Disco sconces, Ceppo di Gré reappears and adorns the surface of the bathroom sink.

In addition to having its own WC facilities and an office area, the pimary suite is extended by a shared shower room, designed as a transitional space leading to the guest room.

With its own unique style punctuated by crimson red tiles, the bathroom also features a custom-made dressing room. Pocket doors ensure privacy in the rooms. The guest bedroom echoes the color scheme of the master suite.

In the shower, an opening allows light to filter through to the bathroom in the entrance hall. In this project, all the rooms are interconnected, like a colorful set of Russian nesting dolls.
