In Paris: a 15 m² suspended cocoon

The challenge: creating a bright, functional studio by combining two maids' rooms 15 m² Paris, France 60 000 € Cosy minimalism Studio In Sinu Architectes

Under the rooftops of Paris, two former service rooms reunited by In Sinu Architectes now make up a 15-square-meter studio where past and contemporary elements converse, between warmth and functionality.
In the living area, textures create contrast: exposed beams interact with a stainless-steel unit, evoking a retro-futuristic aesthetic.

To create a sense of space while drawing the eye toward the horizon, the architects designed a skylight that maximizes natural light. This opening gives structure and rhythm to the space, while framing a picture of the capital’s rooftops.

On the living room side, the seating that runs along the walls is clad in light ash, whose organic nature warms the ambience.

Conceived as a functional unit, the stainless steel unit discreetly conceals all the appliances and incorporates a sculpted mirror niche, positioned in line with the skylight, reflecting the urban heights. In the same spirit, stainless steel reflects and diffuses light.

Once open, the niche reveals a beige surface, a soothing hue that reinforces the deliberate contrast between the different materials.

All-in-one, the stainless steel element also houses the bathroom behind a concealed door.
The ash bench extends into a bed.
