This project is first and foremost an intimate adventure: it involves interior designer Avril Vincent's own apartment, purchased upon completion of her studies and designed as a "living book". An atypical space, steeped in history, where architecture becomes a personal manifesto.
The project begins with a process of stripping away the layers. The stone walls, hidden under layers of plaster, are revealed and enhanced by discreet backlighting.
The wooden beams, sandblasted to restore their original patina and character, interact with the high ceilings – emblematic of the Canuts apartments designed to house Jacquard looms – which become the project’s major asset.
The apartment is organized around an almost square floor plan, punctuated by a wall pierced by two large windows. This unobstructed volume creates a fluid flow of movement, allowing spaces to be distinguished without compartmentalizing.
The generous double-height living area houses the lounge and dining room.
The kitchen, tucked under the mezzanine, extends lengthwise.
Open but protected, the kitchen retains an intimate atmosphere, while respecting the beautiful flow of volumes.
The colorful central block houses the WC and shower room.
The long shower is clad in intense green earthenware, perfectly enhanced by the integrated lighting.

The mezzanine houses a vast dressing room, then, separated by a partition, the bedroom.
The bedroom is protected by a large, custom-made skylight that lets in plenty of natural light.
A thick velvet curtain creates the necessary privacy for the sleeping area, transforming the mezzanine into a hushed cocoon.
