Bringing baby home to a 22 m² studio apartment

The challenge: creating a space for a young father and his newborn, without compromising on quality. 22 m² Paris, France 22 000 € Retro-contemporary Studio Jordan Souchet Moreau Architecture

Rather than leaving his beloved studio apartment, young single father Aurélien decided to explore all of its possibilities. Under the guidance of architect Jordan Souchet Moreau, the apartment was transformed into an ultra-functional interior that perfectly reflects its owner's poetic and theatrical sensibility.
Right from the entryway, purple hues envelop the space and create an intimate, almost cinematic atmosphere. The kitchen nestles in a discreet alcove. Lighting effects accentuate the lines and texture of the light wood.

The attendant living room takes on a completely different atmosphere…

Natural light, enhanced by the white parquet flooring and walls, fills the room. Once night falls, the sofa converts into a bed and the living room becomes Aurélien’s bedroom.

With its minimalist design, the space remains deliberately understated, allowing the owner’s objects and creations to take center stage.

Turning back, we see the depth of the purple once again. The corridor becomes a room in its own right, structuring the transition between uses and giving the project its density.

The built-in storage units blend into the color scheme, while carefully measured secondary lighting glides across the walls and guides the flow of traffic.

Continuing along the passageway, the space narrows to accommodate Pénélope’s bedroom.

Nestled at the back of the kitchen and designed as a retreat, the alcove is enclosed by a slatted sliding panel, allowing it to be darkened while maintaining gentle, natural ventilation.

The sink area is built into the deep storage units. A set of mirrors, punctuated by diffused lighting, extends the perspective.

The all-white bathroom was designed as a mirror image of the living room. Thanks to a window opening onto the rear of the building, natural light flows into this end of the apartment.
