An 80 m² Parisian duplex reinvented

The challenge: transforming an ageing apartment into a family retreat 80 m² Paris, France 240 000 € Trendy Two-storey Géraldine Bernard

Located in an 1844 Parisian building, this 80-square-meter duplex has been completely redesigned by interior designer Géraldine Bernard to create a warm, functional pied-à-terre for family reunions and city living.
Géraldine Bernard was given carte blanche to recreate the volumes, furniture and atmosphere, blending contemporary spirit, Art Deco influences and warm textures. The entrance, with its arch and herringbone parquet flooring, sets the tone.
The L-shaped kitchen has been designed for everyday life and entertaining. Its clean lines and clear geometry maximize worktop and storage space, while creating a visual link with the living room thanks to the bar-side opening.

Travertine covers both the worktop and the walls, contrasting with the warmth of the custom-made wooden elements, giving the kitchen a discreet but palpable refinement.

The bar, an extension of the worktop, is illuminated by Nedgis wooden pendant lights. Their graphic, poetic design creates a subtle balance between straight lines and rounded shapes.

The living room is designed to welcome family and friends. Wooden furniture is combined with custom-made Nobilis curtains. The ensemble plays on contrasts between roundness, verticality and noble materials, creating an atmosphere that is both contemporary and welcoming.

The steel staircase adds a refined industrial touch. Its rigorous geometry dialogues with the fluidity of the curved lines of the furniture, creating a sculptural transition between the two levels.

The lounge area is organized around a custom-made bookcase that takes up an entire wall. Its white shelves on a brown background structure the space and act as a focal point, while providing an elegant balance between storage and decorative composition.

Zoom in on the bookcase and the contrast between the rounded uprights and the horizontal lines of the shelves. This subtle blend of curves and verticals illustrates the attention paid to design and the harmony between shapes and materials.

The first shower room plays on chocolate tones, adding depth and elegance. The finishes and materials chosen create an intimate, refined space, in keeping with the warm palette of the duplex.
A desk separates the second bedroom from the rest of the apartment. The key word here is sobriety! The architecture disappears behind the furniture.

The first bedroom takes advantage of existing recesses to integrate custom-made shelving, blending historic architecture with contemporary furnishings. Beige tones, soft lighting and natural materials create a soothing, elegant atmosphere.

The textile headboard, combined with a walnut niche, creates a warm, graphic focal point. The combination of textures, noble materials and geometric shapes translates the project’s aesthetic signature: a blend of softness, rigor and comfort.

The attic bedroom is bathed in natural light thanks to the skylight, and the striped wallpaper behind the headboard makes a graphic statement.
The second shower room combines glazed brown earthenware with rounded elements to create a soft, luminous environment.

The shower, with its integrated terrazzo niche, combines practicality and aesthetics.
