Raw concrete, sheet metal door… The entrance is confusing! An ode to brutalism? Chisel marks and exposed wires may put us on a different track…
Let’s follow the path to the kitchen, traced by the grid pattern of this white 10×10 tile with black grout. It interacts with the concrete, even on the ceiling.
The plywood storage units are open. Their neutrality means they are not a major decorative element: the visual ambiance is intended to evolve with the items stored in them.
And that’s what this apartment is all about! Just as this space reserved for a cooker hood: unusual, but life goes on. Note the imperfection of the tiling, clearly accepted and reclaimed.
Back to the entrance. On the same principle, custom-made plywood storage units enhance the value of objects… in this case, a bicycle! The tiles have an almost hypnotic graphic effect.
Small tiles everywhere! The bathroom is lit by the borrowed daylight passing through these glass bricks. The same tiles are used again, but this time with a little eccentricity: they’re grouted in turquoise blue!
Zoom in on the meeting of the apartment’s three major materials. This beautiful original parquet floor sets the tone for the rest of the visit.
The main room can also be used as required. It houses a sleeping area, visually delineated by an open shelf and the line of a knocked-down partition.
A very contemporary mineral-vegetal contrast, highlighted by a touch of modern art.
We end the tour with the second bedroom. The exception to the rule is a large, closed, full-height wall unit… because here, it’s the children who take over!
