Located on the first floor of a typical Northern French house built in 1945, this project—led by interior designer Justine Chateaux—breathes new life into a 75-square-meter family apartment that had remained in its original state for several decades.
The existing apartment was very compartmentalized, yet the numerous doors and ceiling overhangs concealed a beautiful ceiling height of nearly 3 meters. Rather than making major changes to the layout, Justine Chateaux chose to simplify the flow of traffic. The living spaces were opened up to allow natural light to fill the entire home from one side to the other.
The living room now enjoys unobstructed views of the entryway and the kitchen. Light flows freely through the spaces thanks to the removal of the partitions.
In the dining room, the furnishings combine iconic pieces with vintage finds. A custom-designed bookcase by Studio Châteaux anchors the space. The table is made of glass and chrome, the chairs are by Bruno Rey, and the pendant light is by Temde Leuchten.
Spruce veneer lines the entryway, which also provides access to the bathroom.
The bathroom design features simple, durable materials. Small-format tiles and textured finishes add depth and character. A light color palette helps maintain a bright and soothing atmosphere.
Located in the center of the apartment, the kitchen naturally connects the living areas and the sleeping areas. Its original layout has been preserved and enhanced.
A dining-work area has been created on the former terrace, which is now part of the apartment. The red polished concrete floor ties the entire space together.
Together, these elements create a welcoming, simple, and timeless space.
The children’s room was designed to be both simple and cheerful. The Goodmoods wall sconces from Monoprix cast a soft light, perfect for both playtime and quieter moments.

Disney Home x Sanderson, which adds a warm, story-driven touch. A few pops of color round out the look without overwhelming the room.
In the primary bedroom, the custom headboard echoes the wood veneer seen right from the entrance. This continuity enhances the harmony of the design. A few carefully selected pieces, such as the Coquillage wall sconces by Axel Chay and the Parentesi pendant light by Flos, round out the ambience.
