This minimalist studio in Montreuil offers a precise and thoughtful response to the constraints of contemporary urban living. Designed as a functional cocoon, the project is based on subtle spatial intelligence, where each element is custom-designed to optimize space without ever constraining it.
The space is instantly, naturally legible. The discreet, seamlessly integrated kitchen takes center stage, while the main room spreads out in the background. The absence of partitions reinforces the feeling of continuity and clarity.
The kitchen adopts a deliberately minimalist style: two induction hobs, a sink, and a white marble countertop. Naturally lit by the window, it focuses on the essentials, with a functional yet elegant approach that is perfectly in keeping with the spirit of the project.
Opposite the bay windows, a wall covered in okoumé wood structures the main room. The custom-made piece of furniture conceals multiple functions while providing plentiful storage. It plays a key role in the interior design, while maintaining a discreet visual presence.
The raised platform is the heart of the project, serving as a hub for everyday activities. When configured for dining, it becomes a convivial space, while freeing up the surrounding floor space. This multifunctional room embodies the idea of an evolving home, capable of transforming itself throughout the day.
The retractable table is precisely embedded into the platform’s structure. This discreet and intuitive device is designed to appear and disappear effortlessly, illustrating the attention paid to mechanical and ergonomic considerations. The table leg has been designed so as not to obstruct the knees.
The platform (whose height is now easier to appreciate) reveals a large amount of storage space concealed beneath hinged panels. This clever solution optimizes storage space while maintaining the overall clarity and lightness of the design.
A foldaway bed is concealed within the wooden wall. When folded away, it frees up the main room and allows for a wide range of uses, without ever disrupting the aesthetic balance of the space.
At night, the space is transformed into a more intimate and enveloping environment. The warmth of the wood, the soft colors, and the lighting create an atmosphere conducive to rest.
The wooden slatted headboard is framed by two custom-made bookshelves. Invisible when the bed is folded away, they only appear in the nighttime configuration, reinforcing an approach to design in which each element has its own temporality.
A discreet office area finds its place within the custom-built cabinetry. Designed as a natural extension of the layout, it provides a comfortable workspace without encroaching on traffic flow or other uses.
The desk is height-adjustable, allowing users to work while sitting or standing. Attention has been paid to contemporary uses and comfort, integrated with simplicity into the overall design.
From the main room, the view extends to the kitchen and bathroom. The plastered walls in warm, natural tones, complement the wood and ensure a smooth visual continuity between the different spaces.
A close-up on the custom-made wooden units: integrated handles in patinated brass, clean lines, precision assembly. Attention to detail enhances the perceived quality and consistency of the project.
The bathroom features the same white tiles used on the kitchen backsplash, creating a subtle link between the spaces. The wooden furniture, darker than in the rest of the apartment, adds depth and contrast.
