A 42 m² attic apartment Madrid

The challenge: redesigning an attic space into a continuous, open-plan apartment 42 m² Madrid, Spain 50 000 € Retro-contemporary One-bedroom gon-architects

In the heart of Madrid, the gon architects agency has cleverly transformed an attic into a living space. With its intersecting slopes and fragmented volumes, the designers used light and color as the project's key materials.
Lined with tiles and white walls, the terrace forms an entrance suspended between the sky and the city.

Beyond the glass door, it extends into a blue hallway that runs under the sloping roof, funneling the light in.

A glass-block wall and a mirrored partition frame the transition to the heart of the apartment.

Reflections proliferate, and light finds its way between the volumes …

To the left of the entrance, the office area stands out with its bright green color, enlivened by the light from the skylight.

A secret door, integrated into the mirrored partition, provides access to the bathroom without disrupting the continuity of the design.

The living room is the focal point of the home. The space is organized as a continuous flow, combining the living room, kitchen, and dining room in a single open-plan area.

The kitchen boasts a light yellow color scheme that is both playful and functional. Behind its continuous facades, storage space and appliances blend into a space that is as practical as it is cheerful.

At the end of the row of cabinets, a mirror punctuated by a sconce extends the perspective and amplifies the feeling of space.

The dining room adds another cheerful touch. The blue table punctuates the whiteness of the space and contrasts with the pale yellow of the kitchen.

The entrance hall, which serves as the hub of the project, also leads to the sleeping area.

Beneath the sloping ceiling, the bed fits perfectly into the geometry of the all-white room, creating a tranquil retreat.

The shower is framed by glass blocks and petrol green tiles.
