Julien and his partner wanted to refresh the 1970s–1980s duplex they had just purchased on rue Hassard, a stone’s throw from the Buttes-Chaumont park in Paris’s 19th arrondissement. Their watchword: “Avoid falling into the clichés of the magazine apartment.” They were after something lasting and full of character—not showy style!
