In Paris’s 12th arrondissement, Kelly and Sylvain feel like their neighborhood is a small village. Just a few steps from their showroom and the Canal de l’Arsenal, they entrusted architect Félix Haudrechy with the task of designing an apartment that reflects their lifestyle. This 60-square-meter courtyard-facing apartment has been restored to its former charm, becoming a light-filled, open-concept retreat set apart from the hustle and bustle of Paris.
As soon as you enter, your gaze is drawn to the floor-to-ceiling mirror, which reflects the light.
On the floor, the original cement tiles set the scene for a discreet office nook, tucked away as an extension of the room.
On the floor plan, the white-tiled area is where Kelly’s painting studio is located.
The kitchen features a more contemporary design…
The stainless steel complements the cream-colored facades with a matte finish, while the light-colored stone backsplash reflects natural light.
The green-tiled stove serves as a reminder of the space’s history. Around the table, the dining room takes on a lighter feel beneath the chandelier’s golden design.
From the facade, the new circulation layout reveals the full depth of the floor plan.
The living room has regained its natural charm. Stripped of unnecessary elements, it lets the original hardwood floors, the moldings, and the light take center stage. It also serves as Sylvain’s office.
A few scattered pieces of furniture give the space a lived-in feel. Dark wood trim is set into the original openings.
In the bedroom, the full-length mirror expands the new perspectives.
The custom-built armoire is installed beneath the moldings and adds warmth to the space.
Accessible from both the bedroom and the living room, the bathroom feels like a refreshing respite.
Blue tiles surround the bathtub, black-and-white mosaic tiles cover the floor, and the large gilded mirror enhances the vintage charm of this Parisian apartment.
