37 m² bathed in light in Kiev

The challenge: softening brutalist austerity through light and transparency 37 m² Kyiv, Ukraine 54 500 € Industrial One-bedroom Between The Walls

The founders of the Between The Walls studio, Andrii Anisimov and Victoria Karieva, have designed a 37-square-meter apartment nestled in the Podil district of Kiev. Marked by its industrial past, the project retains a brutalist memory, which the duo has reinterpreted in a contemporary spirit.
Right from the entrance, light streams through the translucent walls into the heart of the space. The light oak flooring draws the eye towards the living room, while a glass block wall structures the perspective and captures fragments of light.
Behind it, a white volume conceals storage space with a simple geometry designed for everyday use.
Opposite the wardrobe, the bathroom offers a surprise. Light gray tiles contrast with bright orange, creating a bold contrast against the XXL terrazzo backdrop.

The living room opens onto the kitchen, forming a simple yet warm living space, where materials structure the space.

Nestled between the wardrobe and the bedroom, the living room is centered around a green Diza Collective sofa, which complements the natural tones of the wood.

On the wall, the birch bookcase displays books and objects, while a painting by Anton Sayenko adds a dark touch to the room.

Designed in the same light color scheme, the kitchen combines white cabinets and natural oak units.

Its linear design follows the wall and frees up the central space of the living room, which is occupied by a simple wooden table.

Above the table, an offset loft-style sconce adds a light touch to the overall look.

From the living room, the bedroom can be glimpsed behind a wall of plywood and ribbed glass.

The continuity of materials establishes the cohesion between the softness of wood and the clarity of glass.

Neutral tones captivate the eye, while AM.PM bedside lamps introduce a sense of verticality.
