This typical single-story shop of the Bordeaux region has been converted into an apartment using an original layout with a basement, a large space on the first floor and a hidden patio at the rear.
Inside, the space is completely open-plan, with a strong emphasis on industrial minimalism and raw materials.
In the living room, which serves as an open-plan kitchen and lounge, a sanded concrete slab was chosen as the new floor, offering contrast with the original stone walls.
The High ceiling made it possible to add a mezzanine to this space, which might remind one of a New York loft. The mezzanine rests on three Douglas fir beams and a metallic flooring, as to limit thickness and guarantee light circulation.
On the north side, the wall was pierced to open up onto the patio. Concealed behind a sliding panel, a secret access to an annex is waiting to be discovered…
Inside, you’ll find a full-length bathroom that opens up directly onto the patio.
This location provides great ventilation and sunshine, as well as an original relaxing experience.
Back in the entrance hall, a metal spiral staircase leads to the mezzanine area.
The bedroom is nestled up there, without being isolated from the rest of the apartment.
The same spiral staircase leads down to the basement area. Office, extra bedroom, playground… The choice here is up to the next occupant!
