On a quiet street in the El Viso neighborhood, a woman from Madrid falls in love with a 35-square-meter home bathed in light. Auria Homes and Deleite Design have transformed it into a sanctuary that reflects her personality—soft and thoughtfully designed, where storage solutions blend seamlessly into the space and every detail celebrates the joy of living.
The design is revealed through a large, custom-built piece of furniture finished in oak veneer. Serving as the true backbone of the apartment, it extends from the living room to the bedroom and conceals the front door as well as ample storage space.
Inspired by boat design, it combines several functions within a single space, allowing the rest of the apartment to breathe and feel open.
The kitchen, which opens onto the living area, is intentionally understated. The mirrored island reflects light and blends seemlessly into the living room.
The low, pink-lacquered cabinets free up wall space, while the undulating porcelain tile creates a continuous appearance across the countertop, backsplash, and sink.
A must-have for this homeowner who loves to entertain, the dining room is centered around a custom-designed L-shaped bench.
The seat conceals additional storage space and is paired with two vintage chairs designed by Otto Møller, which were reupholstered for this project.
Across from the kitchen island, the living room nestles against the large oak feature element, which opens up here into a bookshelf to display books, objects, and artwork. The low-profile furniture and soft color palette allow the eye to wander freely.
The bedroom flows seamlessly into the living room, from which it can be separated by a large, floor-to-ceiling sliding door.
When open, it allows an unobstructed view throughout the apartment….
When closed, it ensures privacy.
Two large wardrobes with milled fronts store the clothing, while the basket-handle headboard—designed specifically for this project—fits between them.
The Murano glass sconces, built into the sides of the wardrobes, provide a striking contrast to the soft lines of the woodwork.
Adjacent to the bedroom, the bathroom continues the interplay of materials with a rounded shower encased in glossy white mosaic tiles.
The oak cabinet features built-in storage and a laundry hamper, while the pink marble sink and terrazzo-style floor add a more mineral-like touch to the overall design.
