30 m² in Bilbao: a space in motion

The challenge: deploying a complete program without ever restricting space 30 m² Bilbao, Spain Raw and natural Studio Idoia Ruiz Orrio

Under the roofs of Bilbao, the Hilatura studio has given new life to a 30-square-meter mini-ático. Conceived as a return to the essentials, the project concentrates everything that makes up a real living space in a minimum of space.  With its flexible layout and warm materials, this renovation is as clever as it is thoughtful.
In the living room, the kitchen takes the form of a single open space that hugs the ceiling’s slope and fits in naturally.

Light birch, lacquered white or left unfinished, softens its presence. The contrasting orange credenza adds a vibrant touch.

On the ceiling, the existing beams naturally enhance the sense of volume and preserve the history of the place.

In the living room, birch furniture extends this bespoke design and structures the space without partitioning it.

Along the wall, the furniture unfolds in a linear layout that integrates the bedroom and storage. At its center, an orange niche opens up an unexpected perspective.

The bedroom, designed with pull-out beds, extends the design’s functional logic.

On the wall, the ceramic tiles create a sense of rhythm, while the full-height mirror expands the space and blurs the boundaries.

Single, double or as a bench seat: the beds can be easily adapted to the rhythm of everyday life.

Under the sloping ceiling, storage extends the design.

In the center, movable units gather around a table to create a spontaneous dining area. The whole setup moves and adapts, free to transform.

Repeated from one element to the next, the handles and round openings add a lively touch to the furniture.

In the bathroom, the orange-hued tilework envelops the space, creating an intimate atmosphere. This warm shade gently extends the pop accents already present in the design.
