Set in a 1950s modernist building, this studio was previously used for commercial purposes. So we had carte blanche to rethink the open space and take advantage of the volume it offers.
The kitchen is designed to be functional. It is semi-open, so as not to visually encroach on the living room, while still allowing easy access. We’ve fallen in love with the checkerboard parquet and its beautiful contrasting wood species.
The woodwork played a key role in the layout. An airy wooden plank defines the space. It manages to delimit an entrance, but without enclosing it with walls.
And now, the living room! Its minimalist approach preserves the feeling of space, an important parameter in a compact surface. Meanwhile, the addition of a bright color energizes the overall ambience.
With the same aim of optimizing the space devoted to the living area, these cupboard doors conceal storage units… and a pull-out bed!
The result: this studio offers enough space for a large sofa and two armchairs! The immaculate walls catch the maximum amount of light.
The wooden plank runs the length of the room to accentuate and extend the perspective. It also emphasizes the outline of the bathroom, contrasting with the white.
An uncluttered office area is created with a wooden counter at the foot of the apartment’s only large window. It overlooks Porto Alegre’s Metropolitan Cathedral. What better way to relax or find inspiration?
The wooden floor plan is a common thread running through the layout… and also the decoration! It can also be found on custom-designed furniture, such as this side table that interacts with the lines of the parquet.
The bathroom creates a surprise by taking on a seventies feel. They combine orange with geometric shapes to create a smooth transition with the quartz of the @agpetrea washbasin.
